An individual who laced candy with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.

The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he ran.

Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the next day.

She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about the activities, justifiably.

"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated Ruben continued to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the situation.

The legal representative said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.

She said the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a space of five minors.
